s-uranet , It’s unfortunate that you had to get me for this year’s Robot Rumpus. When it comes to art, well-rendered, fully-colored, atmospheric illustrations are not my forte while sketchy jokey/cracky art is more my style.

Someone like me would be like getting a lump of coal for this year. Still, I concentrated on what I could do instead. I’m weak with illustrations but I’m a big fan of sequential art. If I couldn’t go with my usual jokey art, then I would pivot to the opposite. I was chasing after more a feeling, a mood–the events in the comic are meant to be more symbolic instead of literal. I know this may not be what you wanted or expected, but I did my best to fulfill your wishlist while staying true to who I am and what I can do.

Serenade’s one of my favorite MMBN characters; it was great revisiting an old friend after such a long, long time.

Due to unforeseen delays and circumstances, I couldn’t get you your gift in time for the holidays. However, you were never going to get a Christmas illustration from me. Hope you had a wonderful holiday season. Enjoy the rest of your year.
