This is an amazing painting. Beautiful, but understated background really showcases the adorable owl.

Thank you so much. Yeah, I think you are right the flowers would work on their own. I have thought about trying something similar at some point

Totally awesome art from you Sue ! I think this is a nice painting of an owl . Is it a pygmy owl ? Anyway , it is the smallest owl in Sweden .
I myself have seen a hawk owl for the first time , for only a month ago. I got pretty good pictures , and we sat and look at each other on and off for ten minutes. I was sitting 30 feet away from it. One of the most well-invested ten minutes of my life. Hawk Owl is quite rare in Sweden so you can guess if was happy !
It sat / stood and looked at me when I built a nest for this species , it was dusk, and I would never see it, quiet as it is, if not for a couple of small birds chirp and tried to get it away. I was absolutely elated with joy when I saw it sitting on a rough birch branch and look at me in the twilight .
Anyway. I think your water color technique is amazing ! Because it is so difficult to paint like you do. I do not how you do it, I can not anyway. Do you often paint on A3 format or is it A4 ? for me it is often A4, sometimes A5
All the best Sue ! / Pete

Awwww Thank you so much Peter It is actually called a Little Owl honest
Oh what a wonderful experience you had. Very special moment indeed. I love those moments that are so magical, that you never forget the wonder of it.
Thank you Peter for your on going support, it means a lot.
The Little Owl was painted on paper just slightly bigger than A4 (12 x 9 inches ). I also paint on roughly A3 size a lot too which is 12 x 16 inches. When I started painting they were smaller.

You are welcome Sue ! Very welcome indeed.
Okay, I understand. But we actually have an owl art in Sweden that is called pygmy owl ( sparvuggla ) and it is the smallest in Sweden anyway, just a bit larger than a bullfinch. I was mistaken the little owl with Pygmy Owl . They were so much alike.
Anyway, I can send out the picture I got on the hawk owl so you can see it.
Also, good information about you choice of paper
Take care, and by for now Sue / Pete

Thanks again Peter. Bye for now and take care

Such a lovely painting, Sue! I love how you gave the sense of the flowers in the background with salt (i'm guessing?) textures.

Thank you so much Athina. Yes, it was with salt, I was quite pleased with how that turned out.
