Description
Character: Benjamin ‘Benji’ Thwaite (Original Character)
Fandom: Gangsta.
He suffers from random “nightmares” that are actually memories from his former life. While he was adjusting to his new life he had them quite frequently, they were quite violent as well, but now they just seem to pop up at random - generally when he’s at his most peaceful. They’re like a constant reminder that no matter how much he has changed that he was once a bad person and that he doesn’t deserve any measure of happiness or peace.
As a teen he favored the AXE fragrance Lure and wore it all the time, it was actually pretty nauseating to be honest because he wore so much of it. As an adult, he generally doesn’t wear anything scented unless he’s trying to impress someone romantically which is very, very rare. And on the rare occasion that he does use it, his housemate mercilessly teases him because they know and will not let him live it down or stop pestering him with nosy questions.
When he was a teenager and going through his rebellious phase at full swing, his grandfather broke his sternum and fractured his left ankle to prove a point and to put him in his place after he attacked him with the intent to kill. The memory still haunts him, as it was his first time feeling true unadultered fear and what he, at the time, thought was his first real brush with death. He found out later on when he got into a real fight, that what he experienced at the hands of his grandfather was not in fact a true brush with death at all.
He is actually not as confident as he’d have others believe when it comes to romantic and even purely sexual relationships; he is in fact quite shy at times - especially if he’s around or with someone he actually has romantic feelings for. While he does have them, he actually really dislikes only having purely sexual relationships as they make him feel empty and quite disgusted with himself afterwards, but he is only human and as such has urges so he caves sometimes.
He picked up smoking cigarettes as a teenager, but ended up kicking the habit after only a month. He didn’t particularly like nor dislike them and he doesn’t care if other people smoke or not either. He quit solely because they “didn’t do a damn thing for him”. However, while he was adjusting to his new life and generally only during the roughest times, he ended up getting intense cravings for cigarettes. His housemate managed to talk him out of picking up the habit everytime a craving came around and he’s quite thankful to them for that. Although, they both know that his housemate did it partially because they feared that they might get hooked on cigarettes again if he started.
He doesn’t really mind sharing his clothes with his housemate; not that he really has much of a say in the matter, because they go through his closet and drawers as often as they go through their own, if not more. But, it does bug him that they tend to borrow his favorite and or most comfortable clothes when he wants to wear them.
His housemate has a certain fondness for scented candles, much to his frustration. There are a few scented candles that he actually likes and can stand, but the ones his housemate likes are almost always very loud and suffocating. Because he has a very sensitive sense of smell most scented candles and perfumes tend to give him severe migraines accompanied by a stuffy nose and sore throat if left to burn for too long.
