welcome - you're not doing any post processing (besides small stuff like a border) before putting these up ?

well i just starting shooting in RAW so they were blah when i first looked at them...i ran the digital noise reduction thing and added some contrast and then the border...that was it

You could play around in CS4 with the tools under Image -> Adjustments. I think the most popular ones are Levels, Curves, Channel Mixer and I mess with Shadows/Highlights usually.

Though if you're comfortable with your process you may not want to change it
