[Ongoing RP between myself and Staraptorlover56 ]

------

This was stupid, just downright mousebrained.

Why did he think his warnings to the rebel warriors would make them go away? They were way too persistent, and now the very on the fence Shark had to fight these very determined rebel cats.

He stood his ground as he growled to the two warriors. "You dare try two on one with a clanmate? What kind of cowards are the two of you anyways?" He snapped at them as he spoke. Ready to defend himself.

"I will defend myself against you both. just know that it was you who started it." He muttered again before bringing out his claws against the other warriors. Aiming for places that wouldn't mortally wound the others. He wasn't out to hurt them badly, only to get them to leave him alone.

---

Echoshade's heart pounded like the crackling of thunder, as he rushed at Moosefury. With each step the formidable brown tabby looked even larger, even more ferocious. Beside him, the tortoiseshell tom could hear Fleetminnow join him. Equally determined to knock Moosefury over to have a crack at Ragingstar.

Despite moving first, Fleetminnow overook Echoshade and lunged at Moosefury. Echoshade had been vaguely aware that Moosefury was talking to them, warning them, but it was too late for that now. Too late to go back. While Fleetminnow lunged to tackle the large tom in mid air, Echoshade aimed for Moosefury's legs in hopes that he could help knock the large tom over. If he was down, then the two of them would have an easier time. One of them might be able to get to Ragingstar.

---

Figures, it seems these cats were too far into their acts of stupidity to acknowledge him. Guess there was no choice but to speak their own language. Moosefury braced himself for the attacks on both ends as he put up a paw to swipe at Fleetminnow as he let out a low growl. His ears pinned back.

He took a strike at the warrior tackling him, hoping that he would connect somewhere as he then tried to back off from the LeafClan warrior's low blow attacks. Such a dishonorable act this was, he didn't expect this behavior from a clanmate. But from a LeafClan cat? Seemed more accurate.

---

Fleetminnow was easily pushed back, the grey tabby stumbled but found their balance. Their ears fell back as they hissed at Mossefury, not one full of hate but one out of desperation. They didn't think Moosefury would be swayed by words, so they joined Echoshade in his attempt to take out the larger tom's legs.

Echoshade got a few hits in, but nothing major. While he knew in his heart he needed Moosefury down, this was a clanmate. He didn't have it in him to attack the tom properly. But the brown tabby backed away, and the tortoiseshell stood shoulder to should with Fleetminnow.

"We don't have to fight," Fleetminnow pleaded, "Let us see Ragingstar."

Echoshade crouched, ready to lunge if Moosefury denied them or decided to attack. The Sharks were as ruthless and mean as Ragingstar, after all they supported him. The dark tortoiseshell's tail bristled behind him, his green eyes narrowed at Moosefury. He didn't expect much from the angriest member of The Sharks, well aside from Soaringflames. But Soaringflames had nothing on Moosefury.

---

It seemed for a moment that Moosefury was able to push back the two rebel warriors in front of him. He backed off slightly once they did but just glared back at them as he watched for their next move. Hurt from the attacks that they dealt to him, though not anything too major.

But once Fleetminnow spoke he growled again. "Correct me if I am wrong, but I am positive that it was you both who decided to attack me. All because you didn't get your way." He spoke sternly.

"So, no, we didn't have to fight. But you both chose to when you attacked me first. I am just defending myself. Unless I am the bad guy for doing that?" Moosefury had his claws at the ready in case the crouched coward decided to lunge at him for his words. But he made no moves to take the next first blow.

---

"We never said you were the bad cat, Moosefury!" Echoshade snapped, his temper getting the best of him, "Only Ragingstar is. Now let us through or we will be forced to fight you!"

The screeches of cats fighting filled the air. Echoshade was on edge and fought hard not to take his eyes off Moosefury to glance around the camp. He desperately wanted to look for Ebonyheart, to see if the she-cat was okay, but the dark tortoiseshell knew that was dangerous. He didn't know what Moosefury was capable of, although he was talking more than Echoshade thought he might.

"If you stand aside, we won't attack you," Fleetminnow promised as they raised a tail in front of Echoshade to stop him from attacking, "Even you can see how bad he is. We can fix it. Just please, stand aside and let us do what needs to be done."

---

"Again, there is no 'forced' involved here. It is your choice to fight me if I stand my ground. Just as it is my choice to guard the leader's den." Moosefury paused for a moment as he continued to watch the other warriors.

"Not because it is my duty as a Shark, but as my obligation as a Seaclan warrior." Moosefury still didn't back down, though one of his front paws twitched slightly. But nothing came of it. Moosefury's instinct was to get the first attack in before they could. He knew they would attack him soon enough for not giving in. But he wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of him being the one to take the next strike.

"Honestly, I couldn't care less about being a Shark anymore. But I will not sit here and let you get away with attacking me unannounced and in such a dishonorable way." That was where he left it off and Moosefury continued to stare down the two cats in front of him. Ready to deal with whatever they would do now that he still continued to not let them get their way.

---

"We are being forced. If you can't see it was this or have Ragingstar destroy us all, then I am sorry," Fleetminnow meowed sadly, as they lowered their tail.

Anger burned like a red hot fire within Echoshade's chest. What right did Moosefury have, talking down to them like that? Of course the brown bobtail would say something as mouse-brained as that they weren't forced to fight. He was sitting from a place of privilege as a Shark. He was safe, and didn't have to worry about his loved ones dying or being harmed, just as Ebonyheart had been.

With a snarl Echoshade rushed at Moosefury, he rose up on his hind legs as he neared the tom with claws unsheathed. If Moosefury wouldn't see sense and back down, then the dark tortoiseshell was going to have to beat the sense into him. He would not have the seas run red thanks to Ragingstar's paws.

---

Moosefury spoke no more, if they wanted to blame their actions on others. They could, no one could say he didn't try to not have to attack his clanmates. They were the ones thinking that attacking a clanmate would help them in their little crusade against Ragingstar. All he cared about was defending himself. The fight was made personal because of the fact.

Glad that the LeafClan warrior was the one to strike first, he attacked back with full force of his left front paw. Hoping to intersect them and throw off their balance with force. Moosefury hissed as he did so. All he could hope was that Stellarshine was having a better time than he was at this current moment. StarClan, even Brightbeam and Stoneshard at this point!

He knew his father would be defending their mother with his life so he wasn't concerned about them right now.

---

Echoshade ducked to avoid the blow that Moosefury delivered, but he wasn't quick enough to avoid it entirely. The tortoiseshell tom took the blow on his shoulder and he hissed in pain. Rather than falling to the ground. he dropped back onto his four paws again, and turned to deliver another strike with his claws out.

Fleetminnow darted forward and lunged for Moosefury's hind legs. If the grey and white tabby could trip Moosefury, perhaps they wouldn't need to deliver such harsh blows. They aimed to bite into the flesh of Moosefury's leg to make him distracted with pain, while Echoshade was battling the tom front on.

---

Moosefury kept most of his attention on his front as he continued to try to take on Echoshade. So he was unable to retaliate to Fleetminnow's attack in time and he just let out a hiss of pain as he decided to take another heavy strike at the warrior in front of him.

His stance was slightly deterred because of the new injury on his back leg, but Moosefury wasn't going to let that stop him from defending himself from them. He couldn't let them win now.

---

Echoshade glimpsed at Fleetminow darting behind Moosefury, just before the brown tabby hissed in pain. Echoshade hopped back, keeping his front facing Moosefury, hissing and spitting as he went. The tortoiseshell tom spotted Fleetminnow then attempted to swipe Moosefury's legs again, but Echoshade feared that he was the target of Moosefury's anger. So the feinted to the right, before darting left and lunging at the large tom, in hopes the move would unbalance Moosefury enough that Fleetminnow could trip him.

---

Due to now having an idea of what the pair's plan was with them doing it again. Taking in the fact that they were probably trying to unbalance him with how much they were going after his legs. This fight and the last little bit before his failed conversation with them.

Moosefury growled and jumped away from the pair randomly, hoping that it would throw them off. Before taking a moment to stabilize himself before trying to take a lunge at Echoshade.

---

Moosefury jumped away confused Echoshade for a moment as he landed with nothing in his grasp. It was a heartbeat, before he realised it was similar to what he had done when he hopped away moments ago. The tortoiseshell had been so wrapped up in Moosefury's size and strength that he had forgotten that the tom was a senior warrior before he was a Shark. He had the battle experience to back himself up.

Echoshade shared at glance with Fleetminnow, before he turned and saw Moosefury lunging at him. He tried to rear up but Moosefury had moved before him, so the dark tom twitched to try and meet Moosefury's attack head on. If he fell then he would at least have his claws out and ready to fight. But Moosefury's teeth were a huge danger, so Echoshade raised his paws to at least grab at the larger tom's face, to stop him from biting the tortoiseshell's neck.

"Echoshade!" Fleetminnow gasped, the grey and white tabby was frozen in shock due to how intimidating Moosefury was in battle.

---

It seemed as if his attempts at throwing off the other warrior's plans succeeded as he jumped back. He continued his lunge at Echoshade, instead of going for the other tom's neck. He decided to grab a hold of one of their raised paws with his teeth as he rammed into them.

While he was filled with pointed anger, Moosefury still knew that they were considered a clanmate, so he dared not risk put a wound in his neck. As irritated as he was with the LeafClan warrior, he was not aiming to mortally injure any of those he was fighting. He had enough control of himself for that.

He just had to try and fend them off until someone noticed that these two warriors were picking an unfair fight with him.

---

Echoshade had grabbed at Moosefury's face for a moment and in that moment he felt safe. Then the tom turn and used his paws to grab one of his own and bit down. Pain shot up Echoshade's leg from the bite, and the warrior screeched in a mix of agony and rage. Echoshade quickly raised his free paw and slammed it into the side of Moosefury's head, hoping to disorientate the older warrior.

Fleetminnow finally gathered themselves and rushed at Moosefury. The grey and white tabby lowered their head to ram into the larger tom, hoping to at least free Echoshade from his grasp.

Unknowingly to both rebels, the sounds of their fighting and the other fighting in camp woke Ragingstar up. The blueish-grey tom actually had been woken up when Soaringflames screeched, but was drowsy from the rude awakening. But the fighting didn't stop when the leader assumed a brawl would and no cat burst into his den to tell him what was happening. In fact, the fight sounded very close to his den. Ragingstar got to his paws and bolted out of the den, stopping in place to see the sight of his camp at war and two warriors attacking his guard.

"What is the meaning of this!?" Ragingstar snarled, before he ran in to attempt to tackle and pin Fleetminnow, so Moosefury wouldn't be outnumbered.

For my DOW Seaclan Assignment!

This took me ages but I had a lot of fun playing around with the lighting of this. I really tried to aim for 'Dramatic Nightime/Moon-lit Lighting' here.

The title is inspired by the quote "A bullet can't stop the bull moose" from ERB, which is a shortened version of a quote by Theodore Roosevelt. I thought it was fitting, given Echoshade and Fleetminnow are fighting a tall, strong and experienced senior warrior, who is happened to be called Moosefury.

Characters:

Moosefury - Staraptorlover56
Echoshade - Mine.
