*JadeDragonne Did these lines for the #CutiePieWonderland 2013 Easter Colouring Contest!
Yes, your eyes are not failing you, this is 100% Traditionally done. I went on my dads PC to print out both lines for this contest, rooting in the space under the stairs I grabbed my Skin tone Copic set, my other primary bright colours copics, my Crayola colouring pencils, A old dusty unopened 'just ad a wet brush' paint set p: annnd some gold metalic spray paint XD
Then decided to give it a go, inspired by new friends and their artwork!
, ,
Have inspired my to dig out my old copics and as i have so few, the skin tone set is missing some ;___; as is my other set ... but the skin tone set is nice to blend with, however i struggled with the other set as the colours are so far apart its hard to blend them, so my crayolas helped me there, i used the white paint to paint highlights and a few mistakes XD then added some gold metallic spray stoof because i can?
I then took pictures with my boyfriends old smasung galazy S phone and emailed them to myself, downloaded them, picked the best image, opened it in opencanvas, changed the saturation to higher, same with brightness and contrast and then resized it... so yeah... all traditional =0

HOW RARE!

I intend to do the Dark chocolate digitally if i have time :3 and this looks better in real life ;___; oh wells.

I don't know. I finished it, but not particularly pleased with it. Currently trying again, with some different techniques.

ah haha it would have been a mad one XD i move the papaer a LOT and also i was working in shadow a lot and i was on my bed haha XD using a cute big dog book as a stand, which also got a bit pink as the copocs bled through my page of course XD but yeah i did think it would have been cool to make a speedpaint this way, though i have no webcam, well not a portable one XD

I move my paper all over in my videos. I only have a few, but the last one (Katy and Erik) I had corners marked so I knew it would stay in the camera. Check them out! *nudge nudge*

I'd like to see your Copic style, as I am starting to get comfortable with them.

Suiish In reply to vinpip [2013-03-14 18:06:56 +0000 UTC]

Aww thats super kind of you to say so ;__; i started with the skin, it was tough to try and be precise and such im s messy with my digital colouring because erasing is super easy and such, but i had to be all serious face and concentrate DX it was fun though and refreshing to try something traditionally!

ErikRoger [2013-03-14 17:30:57 +0000 UTC]

Go, traditional! Her skin and bunny are amazing. Why you no do like this more!

Suiish In reply to ErikRoger [2013-03-14 18:05:26 +0000 UTC]

I'm actually most proud of the skin, the skirt and the top. hmmm im not sure XD its not that i dont enjoy it, maybe if i had a scanner i would do it more, i dont like the photograph as it looks messy and alters brighness in areas, the camera darkened her legs a lot ;_; and there was kit all over my bed, i actually took a photo before starting with all my gear out XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ErikRoger In reply to Suiish [2013-03-14 18:59:51 +0000 UTC]

It still looks good for not being scanned. I probably wouldn't have noticed it wasn't a scan if you didn't mention, figuring it was a filter, or something.

yes hehe XD I decided to give it a try after seeing so much wonderful work with copics, its sad mine sit and are all alone under the stairs DX but colouring traditionally was a fun change, and also a first =0 ive never ever coloured anybody elses lines in this way before =0 so its a first as well as being traditional which is rare in itself from me XD

Wow. Very impressive. I saw the watch notice about this and thought, "There's Sui, digital coloring in the bag." ...then I pulled this up and was like "Wait... that's traditional!" I totally have my work cut out for me now.

Very awesome dual blending to give it more color depth; it really brings out the highlight and shadows. There are clearly a few techniques shown here that I could learn from you.

Suiish In reply to KhrisKinner [2013-03-14 16:02:25 +0000 UTC]

No way, fer reals ;___; AMG this made me feel a bit better about it, i was out of my comfort zone with traditional media, and for you to say you have your work cut out for you on something i did, just ASDF thats a massive compliment from you, as i had some tips of yours i read in my mind, like i didnt know going over it again would make it darker or, more saturated so to speak.. i really am honoured you like this ;___; I spent about 5 hours on it, all the time thinking I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM DOING DX and i did mess up a lot and was even tempted to bin it at one point but i stuck with it and was thankfull that crayola go over copics nicely XD i was proud i did the skin mostly with my copics.. i forgot how smooth they are... they go on like melted butter >_< I just wish it could translate on my screen better, even with adjustments it looks better as a tangeable piece XD
Thank you so so much for your kind words ;__; seeing your copics among others works really inspired me to try!

KhrisKinner In reply to Suiish [2013-03-14 23:53:52 +0000 UTC]

I always get nervous working with traditional art because there is no undo button. What gets put on paper is pretty much now part of the picture. I'm proud that you value my feedback in such high regard, makes me feel like I'm becoming accomplished. It is also quite impressive that it only took you five hours to do that whole thing. I'm probably breaking six hours on my dark chocolate entry and still have the eggs and additional shading to go. There is also an indecisive factor that causes me a lot of delays.

Glad to hear that you stuck through it and didn't give up. The result is quite impressive for not having worked traditionally for quite some time (which is the assumption of you having to dust off boxes).

Suiish In reply to KhrisKinner [2013-03-15 18:13:04 +0000 UTC]

yep, i screwed up with too much pink on her cheeks but thankfully was able to blend it back better with my white crayola XD that thing seldom gets touched XD oh totally, i really enjoyed the exercise you did with the other artist it was surprising and amazing at how different the results were =0 and i tried to take a somewhat painterly approach, as the super brush sides are pretty much like a paintbrush XD oh i was very messyyy XD and yes i honestly cant remember the last time i did something like this, when i showed my noyfriend he was shocked and did say wow how long has it been since youve done that XD I'd love to get more copics but i need sets pf different tones of colour, than primary ones P: when i first got them i just used the skin tone set to just colour everything it looked a bit sepia Cx

;__; Thank you so very much! I wish it could look a bit more like it does on paper.. on screen but hey ho, it was fun to do, a bit rough around the edges and frustraiting because its just rubiish ulk buy printer paper that i noticed love to suck up the copic ink and bleed a little XD but still fun to do i had a smile on my face while drawing XD

MistressAilyia In reply to Suiish [2013-03-14 16:30:46 +0000 UTC]

Nothing looks the same once it hits the screen, never ever. Ever.
I've never used copics before, are they hard to work with?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Suiish In reply to MistressAilyia [2013-03-14 18:25:20 +0000 UTC]

IT SUCCKS XD but copics dont! they go on like melted butter and the techniques i use in digital colouring is very easy to translate to traditional, the only thing i wanted was a white highlghter gel pen D: instead of the crappy white paint i had here OTL they arnt cheap though ;u;
