Description
In the Norse folklore, there is a creature who lives in the forest, it looks like a woman...except her back is made of bark and she has an animal tail. Do not trust her, you will regret it!This is my own verision of The Huldra or SkogsrΓ₯; as she is also called.
I didn't want to paint a flawless beauty here, I wanted her to be kind of comical and give her a "hungry" look?
I can't belive I started this one in 2007!
_ She has been sitting in my photoshop folder for so long without any attention, I felt like she deserved to be finished.

~Chisue was the first to suggest the foresty background and fireflies.
~DukeOGlue wanted me to use stronger and more intense colour for a painting, it was a challenge but I tried to do that here. I hope it shows.
Thanks to everyone else who helped me with suggestions for this one!

This is really beautiful! The colors, the pose, and the background is amazing. She really stands out and I love that it seems like the light for everything is actually coming from her. Also her smile, it's friendly and eerie at the same time. Beautiful work.

That's a pretty outfit that Huldra is wearing and her hair looks really good! The anatomical proportions looks wonderful as well. I really like how you did the cute fox sitting on the tree as well as the rest of the painting.

The story is interesting! She reminds me of a siren, a little.
I like how all the animals are looking at her cautiously, except for the fox. A friend, maybe?
...Or maybe she looks so deviously happy because he's dinner...

Wow... this is fantastic! You should definitely use strong colors more often! This is such a powerful image and composition. My eyes went straight to her face and couldn't move away.

And, again, great job on all the little details (especially the timid bear), even though it looks like you paid less attention to them than usual...
I think you should now do something with dramatic lighting. Try having a light source behind or to the side of your subject, rather than face-on.
