Description
On February 22nd 2014, exactly ten years ago Berkut policemen returned to Sevastopol
People kissed their charred hands, their smoked faces. Loving locals gave flowers to Berkut, and gathered an orchestra for hero welcome
Next morning Berkut police turned around - and stood firm on guard at checkpoints
They did police job - they defended the people
Roughly at the same time in Lvov / Lviv, Berkut was kneeling before the shaming crowd. Two of them who didn't kneel were burnt alive, their murderers were not prosecuted
We all have heard Police is a pillar of society. Get rid of police - and society falls apart. In theory - this is a common truth. In practice - we saw it in Ukraine. Don't try it at home if you value your home country
