Description Name: Wyatt Wolfgang (Wepwawet/Upuaut)
Species: African Wolf
Age: Unknown
Height: Tall
Weight: Heavyweight
Profile: CEO-slash-founder of Lycopolis, Wyatt has many traits one could hope for in a leader: confidence, cleverness, and charisma. However, despite all this, he prefers to stay out of the limelight and minimizes his presence as much as possible. He also has a bad habit of taking his privileges for granted, making him a target of envy without his knowing. His power of sensing and manipulating the air around him is simple but versatile, allowing him to find openings and seize opportunities with ease. With time and concentration, he can charge and fire wind arrows that can hone in and destroy any target of his choice.
Relationships: As Wepwawet, he raised Duamutef alongside Set and Anubis, and when the Age of Pharaohs gave way to later civilizations, he continued to bring up the young wolf himself, leading to their current-day partnership. During his travels to the US, he helped a young Ralph find his way, and they remain on good terms before and after Ralph uncovers his identity. He also hits it off with Wile E. over their mutual friendship with Duane and affinity for inventions. He and Herman are twins who used to be very close as pups, but their friendship fell apart as they got older and the tension between them continues to this day. During his time as a scout and guardian of the Pharaoh and Amon-Ra, he worked alongside Set and later fell in love with him--though sadly, fate had other plans for them.

***

The second of three Egyptian deity-based OCs that made their debut in Wolf & Coyote Mercenary Services, Wyatt was made at the same time as his brother, Herman, but didn't appear until a couple of chapters after him. As far as character writing goes, Wyatt was made with the idea of someone who looks confident and outgoing but is later revealed to be far more introverted. These contrasting aspects of his personality is inspired by his overall mythology: Wepwawet is a relatively obscure deity by modern day standards, but once held great relevance as a symbol of royalty, warfare, death, and justice, with a giant list of epithets to his name. However, because he doesn't have any specific stories associated with him, he lacks the fame power that more well-known gods like Anubis, Horus, and Isis have. The research I did while writing W&C helped a lot in developing Wyatt, as his obscurity combined with his hidden strengths grant me a great amount of creative freedom, not just in writing him however I want, but in creating a properly fleshed out portrayal of Wepwawet for the modern age.

On the subject of the drawings themselves, I had a bit of trouble figuring out what colors best fit him. He and Herman are described as having golden/yellowish fur, but I felt like a bronze-like color help to contrast with the lighter parts better and make them fit in with the canon duo better. Maybe I'll experiment with yellow fur someday. I also made some drastic alterations to the layout, spacing out the full-body figures and detail snippets to reduce the cluttered feel that the original scan had. I also adjusted the canvas to a more square-ish shape to make it more Instagram-friendly. My tools and even the paper itself kept working against me throughout the inking and coloring stages, and there are some muddled remnants of that despite my cleanup attempts.
