Are the double deckers really based on the german design? That's interesting, because they look rather different from german ones. Although if it's mainly on a technological level, then it's something else of course.

They had to be specifically designed to fit into the Amtrak tunnels into New York, but the cars are built by Bombardier.

I'd think of them more as Canadian, especially since the bodies were built in La Pocatière, rather than Kessel
