Description Bare Island. Like Fort Denison in Sydney Harbour, Bare Island was fortified and equipped with cannon to repel a possible Russian attack during the Crimean War of 1885. It is connected to the headland by a wooden bridge and still has its cannon and a soldier's barracks.
Simulated Velvia slide film colour using Denny Tangs tutorial [link] at the suggestion of Allen J Miller all round good guy, go see him!

A bit of trivia.. I hand to strip to my underwear to wade out to a rocky outcrop for this shot.... 6am.. New Years day... not a big crowd around.

Lol @ your trivia... I would imagine that even if there had been a crowd, they wouldn't have batted an eyelid, just laughed at the drunk in his underwear on a rock taking a photo

Nice colouration, i've gotta give that tutorial a shufty!

you should have spun the camera around and snaped a shot of the artist himself... that would have been worth a giggle
great shot tho... but somehow the tilt of the shot seems a little off.

Sun-Seeker In reply to jaggedheart [2007-01-02 20:48:07 +0000 UTC]

If you roll the pic down to till the sea line is near the bottom line of your browser you will see its level.. its the landmass under the bridge on the left that gives the ilusion that theres a tilt... but thanks for making me double check! I am the horizon nazi!
And no photos of my skinny white legs for your amusement Muhahhhaha!

Theres nothing photographers won't do to get those special shots. Well, almost nothing.

Anyways, great warm tones and a fantastic DOF.

Looks like a place I would like to visit someday. Some day I'll have to travel to Australia.

Great stuff, just love the sky and the lighting on the bridge

Just a thought, i don't know if where you were standing would have allowed you to go a few metres to the left to just let us to see a few of those wooden crosses below the bridge not overlap with each other before leading off to the same place in the distance.
Or this this the other angle that is still to come?

Happy New Year, Sun-Seeker!

Thanks for the link to the tutorial, I read through it and it's pretty simple and the results definatey support using it over Hue/Saturation.

You're a brave man to wade out in your underwear (boxers or briefs, by the way? ) for a good shot, apparently worth the risk. I guess I'd be way more worried about the camera than my person.

Too bad there weren't people around, I'd like to see a big crowd in the shot; gathered along the bridge cheering and whistling at you.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sun-Seeker In reply to Skorpios [2007-01-01 08:27:37 +0000 UTC]

Well luxx.. if there had been a crowd I would have had to do a nuddie run.... the water was warm and only 30cm deep and no waves to mention... I still held cam and tripod firmly! Briefs, snazzy colours too. go with my white legs... NOT!
