it's a franchise which will be coming to your local area soon enough, i'm sure.

was this taken on the new siggy?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sun-Seeker In reply to verty [2006-09-12 03:42:48 +0000 UTC]

No and you know I would have... no I wouldn't.....I could have zoomed to 20mm... this was the old canon kit lens at 18mm.
I was going to say I would have had to jump into the paddock and walk 300m to get the shot with the siggy but then I remembered its a zoom? See How fixated I am by being able to see things at 10mm heheh!
did you like my edit after advice from watchers? [link]

Well done. Just been on a weekend away myself, and drove past more than 100 canola fields. Spectacular, but the light was never quite right. Luck seemed to be on your side.

Love the colour contrast, the light, and the framing. (To me the image is more effective by showing the entire down pour, framing with "clearer" skies either side.)

Sun-Seeker In reply to digitalhermit [2006-09-11 11:17:56 +0000 UTC]

Yeah thats what I decided to go with... a tight crop could have wroked for a more concentrated shot but the tree wasn't thats flash as an object... more the graduer.

How much money do you spend on petrol every week! LOL

You must travel all around Australia throughout the year. Those rain clouds look amazing, and well spotted also. Haven't we had some rain this week!

The sky is wonderful Seeker. I'd crop half the grassy meadow off That'll take away some issues with the 'brightness' of the green and showcase the stunning clouds. Just my opiniion though.

Yeah.. I did some already but the it would become more a sky shot..... its a YELLOW weed BTW but I know the sun on it is overwhelming... I took some vertical comps but 60% yellow weed does not a foreground make.... I think I will recompose and put a second version up and then people can choose... its all edumacation. I just wish I'd been there for an hour... there were oatchwork white and grey ploughed fields and shed I could have used against this sky and also more interesting trees!

ladynightseduction In reply to Sun-Seeker [2006-09-11 02:38:00 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh, you know I missed a shot somewhat similar last year. Huge tornado like storm drove past a field of yellow weeds, the sky lit up and they just dragged your eye in. Of course I was headed somewhere and I didn't stop. I Kicked myself all the way to the turn off.

Been there done that.. I was caught without a cam when a hole in a storm opened up to blue with the sun shining thru and lightning crackling around the edge.. how often are you in that situation? Doh!

Composition looks good to me, the empty sky to the left of the frame is balanced by the tree, horizon is at a nice 1/3rd of the way up, and those clouds have some amazing detail in them. The Wizzer of Oz is right about the green being a bit too bright... looks more like a meadow in the late spring that one that's about to be rained upon!
I guess a bit more playing around with curves in PS will fix that!

A lot of people on DA are colourblind.... did you know the background to DA is a smokey blue?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

stephenfarrugia In reply to Sun-Seeker [2006-09-11 11:53:16 +0000 UTC]

I would call it smokey grey... but then again, this has more to do with colour perception than colour blindedness... one man's bright green is anotherone's yellow... or another example: how do you explain in words, what the heck sort of colour is "maroon"to a person who doesn't speak very good english...

This is simply great, who said that blue and green doesn't match? This is a perfect example that both colors can combine in a very smoothly way! Great job, I love it!
