Couldn't resist doing a mirror picture of these two. They basically are the same just coloured different, which is a really interesting thing to exploit. Actually now that I think about it, I think there's very little of people who have actually thought about it in this fandom.There are various explanations to seekers looking the same(even canon explanation) so is for those doorwinged datsuns as well, but not for Ironhide and Ratchet. They are completely ignored what it comes to them looking the same.
Well anyway, I inked the outlines and coloured this with normal color pens. I think it's kinda obvious.

Well that's true. Except that there really is canonical explanations for every other look a like Transformer except for these two.
Seekers look alike to respect their commander. And Prowl, Bluestreak and Smokescreen are from Praxus where they use frames like theirs, but there isn't even a single explanation why these two look a like.

Well according to canon Ironhide is supposed to be older than Ratchet. Well actually he's supposed to be wayy older than the rest of the Autobots, well except for Kup.

Ironhide and Ratchet are veterans from the same unit. Ironhide was the weapons specialist (hence the chemical weapon) and Ratchet, as we all know, was the medic.
And yeah, Ironhide is like the 50-year-old sergeant, Kup is the crazy old ex-soldier man XD
