First off, let me start by saying I find the way you depict animals/creatures very interesting and the way you show anatomy for a lot of these (even for animals that don't actually exist) is very convincing, and you've got a lot of skill in that area.
Though since you asked for insight on "dog" type anatomy, I have to say that the paws look almost more towards the feline side than not, I think because his limbs are so wide and don't really slim down much towards the "ankle".
In addition, I think even at the angle you're trying to portray, the viewer should be able to see at least one of the hind legs.
That being said, I feel like parts of the environment around Helios seems to slightly distract me from the actual character, because of how crisp some of it is compared to the character itself. On the flip-side, I also enjoy how parts of Helios (like the tail) blend into the background, suggesting natural camouflage.
Okay, I'm done being nitpicky now e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="387" title=" (Wink)"/>
Overall, I really enjoy this piece--the colors, Helios' face, and the environment you chose--all of these things tie together nicely as an overall image. I really like how you kept the style more "painterly" and not completely saturated with detail. You remain true to your style, maintaining a perfect balance of detail that doesn't overwhelm the viewer.

I'm glad you took the time to give me feedback, thank you!
I was thinking that something was off with the paws. I had been working with feline anatomy recently, so that may have passed onto this as well.
Then my dumb self didn't even think to use references :'D
The hind leg/ paw showing was something I was thinking about before, but at the time I was eager to just post the piece. I'm definitely going to see what I can do with that, though.
The background was pretty faded when I first started working on it, and was just sort of muddled together. It kept bothering me, and I was itching for more contrast. I could try blurring it a bit possibly.
Thank you again! I just love the painterly, can't get away from it!

This is truly stunning. I absolutely adore the textures for the background. It looks like an oil painting almost!
The animal itself is very unique as well. I love the purple hue to it. As for feedback, he does look a bit on the big cat side. This may be due to his smooth, stockiness. Canines are usually thinner and more refined. Lots of sharp points.

The paws are incredibly done-it's not necessarily the focus of the picture, but I'm impressed nonetheless how much form and weight they seem to have. Wrists, fingers and joints are very delicate parts of any creature's anatomy and they always take special care to do right!
The perspective reaching up on the tail seems a little off-it almost looks like it's laying flat on the ground, even though at a second glance I can tell it's waving in the wind. If the tail were to just naturally dip and recede behind the creature, not only would it be a bit less confusing, I think it'd also free up the negative space and make the picture look more striking.

Lovely use of that white background. It really brings out the vibrant colours in the creature, and a distinct sense of camoulflage is given with the creature's lower like-coloured body. The flowing, relaxed and rather beautiful form of the hair is immediately intriguing; paired with the vibrant colour, it's fierce yet soft in one notion. Awesome work, and great use of atmosphere with that pure, white snow!
