If you look in my favourites gallery, I have a folder called "tutorials" -- there's a tutorial on icons in there that you should find useful! There's also another pixel art tutorial in there somewhere that's super handy. I've been making small pixels for a while, but I nearly always used Pokemon trainer sprites as bases, so I'm actually kind of new at making original things. Tutorials are your friend!~
