I can imagine...I was homeschooled so I can't relate entirely, but I did go to school for a little while so I get the jist of it.
I can't stand it when they would assign work over summer vacation! It's like, the work is only gonna get harder the next year, and can't you give us a few months to recover from the school year without having to worry about more work?!

That IS ideal, but also sadly improbable.
They haven't even assigned any over the summer assignments, they finished our finals and now they act like they can continue as if we have another semester ahead of us. And when I refuse to comply, they try to tell my I have to do the work, which I just reply to with a simple, "Or else what?"
Basically from there everyone is annoyed, and nothing is accomplished

Yeah, I decided that I'm not going to do work for chump change, especially since they're not giving points or changing grades now that finals are done. I made it clear, I don't care what they say, I'm not doing work for free. (This isn't all my classes though, most of them have just ended, it's mainly Physical Education and Science that are insisting on extra work, everyone else has accepted the new status quo.)

Exactly, there's no point to it, it's like constructing a door and calling it "the door to nowhere," don't expect a lot of people to take the scenic route through it.
