*DISCLAIMER* Pretend you're reading a manga. The text will flow better.
*EDIT* Now featuring manga reading arrow! I could go and move all the text around, but this was a lot simpler and imo a little funnier. If nothing else, it's more random. That will do nicely in a Pinkie Pie comic.
Basically, this is what I thought would happen if the contest was more realistic. The baker has to submit the cake, the judges actually judge the cake for its taste, and is disqualified for having been partially eaten already.
Let me know if dodging the background makes the text easier to read or not in the comments. I'm just throwing art at the wall right now to see what sticks.

The cake in question is cheesecake, which is actually a pie by culinary definition, so the cake is totally real! Also, the cake was not made on site, is under the height restrictions, doesn't make enough use of moving parts and OW! That hurt! Maybe I was too carried away after watching too much Food Network........

I could read the text well enough. However, since the judges are standing on the right, you might want to raise their speech bubbles above Pinkie's to show that they are speaking first. Otherwise I assume to start left-to-right. It took me a minute to figure out I was reading each panel backwards. Thanks!

This only made sense when I started reading it as a manga. It might be"hoove" you to put up a note to dispel confusion on how to read your comics.

You can reduce the transparency of the text bubbles. That is what works for me.

I draw them myself. layered underneath the text. I keep them in their own layer, so I can adjust the transparency to make it look right
