Description A violent calamity of color spilled over the sky as the sun dipped beneath the horizon.

...

"Usul gives moisture to the dead!"

A rare thing from me: Fanart!
I'm currently reading Frank Herbert's "Dune," and my gosh... I love it so much.  This illustration was inspired by a very poignant chapter in the novel.

forgive my sad little attempt at the baliset...  It's probably a lot more intricate, but I don't think it's actually a very large instrument? Probably not that similar to a guitar, but whatevs... at least there's nine strings! XD

I also know there are two moons on Arrakis, but this scene takes place when the first moon rises

Oh yay!! Dune!!
Well...I've only seen the 1984 movie adaptation. Haven't had a chance to read the books yet.
Great work with the picture!! The sunset looks lovely and poor Paul here looks great as well.

I swear, this piece combines two of my favourite things: Dune, and painted sunsets! I love how you did the colours of the sky - flaming, as if it is on fire (exactly as I'd imagine sunset on Arrakis!) - and Paul's solemn expression as he cries.

Lovely work! I hope the book will keep on enthralling you!

Ohhhh! Have fun finishing it in a nearby future!

Personally, I think the first book is most interesting one; are you planning on reading the series, btw?

But of course, the first book establishes the whole intriguing world of Dune and it's fascinating characters -- I agree it's most interesting (so far). I'm flying through the second book, and will be on to the third soon. I don't plan on reading past the trilogy -- I've been advised against it by at least two people. XD

Lovely work here! It is interesting to see fanart from you! I haven't heard of the Dune work, but it may be worth checking out from my side!

Thank you so much!  It's a pretty incredible work of science fiction, in my opinion (and that's not generally a genre I'm attracted to).
