Description Three notes.

Twee-taaa-dooo…

One voice.

"Help me sing…"

The twittering notes rose higher in the birds' throats, as if in excitement. Somebody was singing with them? Why, this was an unexpected surprise. More notes danced through the trees, and Tasha continued to walk down the leaf-littered forest, her head held high and eyes shining with anticipation.

Roo-a-looo…

"Who are you?"

Tasha continued to make lyrics from the simple notes, transforming them into a little melody.

Soft sunshine broke through the treetops in a splotchy pattern, highlighting each branch and leaf in a crisp edge. The sun was rising- still in its early morning hues of dusty pink and pale orange. The breeze was perfectly cool, with a slight warm tint that was absolutely refreshing against the skin beneath her grayish fur.

And she was alone.

Well, not entirely. The little black figures were scattered among the branches, bursting with song, urging her to join in, continue in making tunes for them to try and match up. Tasha enjoyed the challenge. A simple stroll through the forest had been turned into a lighthearted race- would wolf or bird win with song?

Ooom-kaaa-daa-ploom…

"Sing me a tune…"

Tasha closed her olive-green eyes, letting the words roll from her tongue. It wasn't hard, really.  Simply a matter of connecting real-life words to the unreal strings that the feathered beings provided. It came naturally. It had since birth. Her mother had said she came from the womb, singing in the beat of a feeble wail. She was growing, maturing, becoming more and more every day.

The birds continued their attempts, but they were no match for the young one. Her voice carried meaning and true melody- such as they could never meet.
Her figure grew smaller and smaller, a simple gray speck in the vibrancy of autumn. Eyes opened, and the electrical colors of the leaves crowded her vision. The smile grew still, but she never stopped singing.

She never would.
