It will be much better if I can get it detailed more. Photoshop is a big daunting to learn... it's so huge. I found a website that describes how to make rust and metals.. but I am not sure if I can make Sunstorm seem more metalic now or if I have to start from scratch. Right now he is fairly plain it will take me time to add details and such.

Yeah, I can imagine.
Though, in my 3D class last semester, our prof also showed us how to make dirty metal textures and stuff. He implied you use a series of layers, with different property settings (some being transparent, others at multiply, etc). He also used a lot of the aplha mask channels too, for things like holes, stained streaks, and stress marks. Wow.
When I'm just painting TF's in photoshop for the 3D art, I just brush on details, setting the tranparency at very opaque settings, and using different layers. But it's a different story when making textures for 3D objects.
