Haha, I wish I knew how to use textures on GIMP.
But I used to do something similar with this in elementary school.
I would grab a tissue, scribble it with multiple multi-colored Sharpies, then you that special cleaning stuff that was used on overheads to make the colors bleed. c:
I was always really proud of myself for discovering that and would make them at just about every opportunity I had.
