Sentimental time!!

Back in 2013, I made this along with the entire suit (which has fallen apart beyond repair) but I keep the helmet and plasma cutter close by to serve as a reminder of how insane that project was! Out of the blue two of my friends invited me to DragonCon, but I had basically 20 bucks to my name. I ended up helping my brother cover dishwashing duty one weekend at a marina that summer, I had gotten paid, and used most of my earnings to tackle this cosplay. So many people doubted me (even my own family somewhat), and granted the whole suit was made of EVA foam and hot glue, I even impressed myself despite having such high standards for only my own stuff.
I wanted to show everyone what I felt like I could do with such limited time and budget, and I feel like I did even though I had no idea what I was doing.

At DragonCon, I ended up meeting Frank Ippolito, Roy, and Laura from Face-Off as I was standing in line for the panel while wearing my makeshift foam suit. It blew my mind! Even more so, was that I had met Adam Savage and didn't even know it was him inside his Admiral Ackbar cosplay! And later that night as my friends and I were walking back to our hotel, we saw a meteor go by between two buildings in Atlanta, as if like it was a giant match head being struck against the sky.

Going to that con pretty much changed my life, and I owe it to my friends. Since then, I've just wanted to keep upping my game and show people what I can do.
