Started work on this toward the end of 2021, but had to stop as I was heavily pregnant and later had mom duties to tend to first.

Covid was hard on everyone, however the treatment and ostracization of many who were (now proven rightfully) skeptical of the treatment being pushed out the door disillusioned me completely of who we've become and what we're capable of as a people. There was no room for dissent. There was no room for discussion. And now that we're on the other side of this horrible event, there will be no forgetting what happened. There will be no amnesty.

I got exactly one jab of the vaccine out of fear of being kicked out of the home we were staying in. The nurse couldn't answer any of our questions about side effects or certain risks regarding pre-existing conditions. I had to beat down my feelings of betraying the part of me screaming "this is wrong" by chanting "This was a good thing. I'm saving lives." As time went on, we all learned that none of it really mattered.

My heart still breaks for the people the pandemic hit the hardest. Small businesses, family members forced to pass on alone in their hospital rooms, nurses and other blue collar workers who lost their jobs for refusing the vaccine, the children who have shown to have been socially and emotionally devastated from years of isolation, the people who passed on either with or without the vaccine. All of it. None of us deserved to go through that Hell. None of us deserved to be treated like villains. None of us deserved to face death at the hands of invisible forces willing to stir up the public for their own gain.

You can sound off your opinions in the comments. Now that we're well away from the pandemic and the dust has settled, I'm more willing and mentally able to invite conversation about this whole mess.

Just know that this is the last time I allow anyone to do anything to my body without my complete informed consent. I will not be made to choose against myself or my right to say "no" to appease entities that do not care if I live or die.
