Why we play RPGs

Some people ask me why we people play RPGs
I give them a reason that cannot be more true
It is the emergency exit to life with a back door to return
A temporary escape from the tears that run down my face
However they still do not get the exit of a fictional domain
They call it a make believe place that can never find them wealth or fame
Their mere words sets me completely a flame
However I still go on and tell them the same
That this is not merely just a game
So I do like every other player that came before me and for every player to follow I say
The reason we play RPGs is because it allows us to be who we really want to be
Someone on a quest, adventure, a journey that’s anywhere but here
With the greatest gift to be a hero without any fare
Because our own kind has gone through so much bullshit
That we might feel like nothing more than shit
So we try to be a hero, like the ones we never had
To protect every geek that started to feel sad
A hero for that moment when the pain gets too much
And we are holding on to our last crutch
That is the reason humans play any game
So we stand united as players in the dark
As the heroes we needed lighting an endless spark
And I am so sorry if this game is too much
Because that is way we play the rule playing games
For the days that we started to feel we had enough
Because sometimes life gets so rough
That is when we become our own hero that saves us
And the players of RPGs could finally sleep without fuss
