Description This is a huge drawing I have done of our "Three" kids. HA!

Yes the dog is one of my kids too, however he is also my childrens constant guardian. He never lets them out of his sight and they are always safe when he is near. At 55kg, no one messes with our Mate's babes.

Mate is a Rhodesian Ridgeback x Rottie. He is the 2nd of this type of cross that I have owned, and they are extremely loyal and loving dogs.

The Drawing is over 1.4 meters in width and unfortunately it is framed, so it has made photographing hard. However I am going to add a link to this page so you can see a close up of Mate and also the actually size (I shall put my 7yr old daughter next to it - She stands at about 127cm tall)

Way to long! HAHA! I did it over a nine month period, its pretty huge, about 4ft wide. gave myself tendonitis in my hand and wrist. Thanks heaps

Unbelievable. 1.4 meters. This must have felt like you'll never finish it. The biggest I have done was 80cm X 60cm and that literally took me forever. Where did you get such a big paper from?

HAHA! I don't know if it is patience, perhaps more like an OCD thing, and I don't have to worry about what the wife or kids think, I am the wife, and I usually draw when the kids and hubby are at work, between washing and vaccuming. Sorry I took so long to reply, I just moved to the country and things are kinda crazy at the moment

I have no kids, save one four legged Jack Russel who weighs about a tenth of Mate. We call him Stitch and he's just as destructive, yet, he's uber-protective of kids. Your picture has so much poignance and displays the grace of dogs like no other. They are truly our guardians, man's best friend and our escorts to heaven.

WOW thanks for that terrific comment, I wanted to display my boy mate in a different light, mist see such a big dog and think aggression but he is nothing like that, I would not have my kid near him if he were, he is just a gentle soul that loves those kid to death and would protect them no matter what.
