Description Second entry for the Flight Rising: Something About Dragons Contest. A rather more cute picture, because banded owlcats are so damn adorable!

The original design may be seen here [link]
Owlcats belong to ~neondragon , art belongs to me.

Aww, its sooo cute! Such a nice combination of those two animals!. I guess its unnecesary to descrie everything about it, all of it its great. So neat, nice, smooth colors, a nice and not overwhelming background, that gives a perfect touch. And of course the mutation of the two animals was done perfectly, combined with the pose, to make it excesively cute.
This thing is hazardous, it causes cuteness intoxication!.

Also I like the use of an owl in such silly situation. Being the owl a creature usually associated with widsom, and seeing it in a cute, rather childish image, makes a feeling of a wise acting silly (In some way reminds me of Odin, who was a god of widsom and enjoyed traveling trough the world disguised as a dumb old man, hiding all his widsom).

The design is not mine, though I think it is very well put together (looks like something one could see for real, right?) The pose was inspired by some photos I looked up of young lions, I had a hard time picking one

This is a cub so I figured it should have a more playful pose. Perhaps when he grows up he'll be wise like Odin?

Also, thank you so much for your time writing such a lovely comment! You made my day

Oh, yeah, probably when he grows up he will be the more serious and wise owl.

Aww, you are wellcome. I am glad it was so meaningfull!.

Ah I just love the way you coloured him Looks so professional and clean! I think Iยดll try that with acrylics if that works.
Great work here! You learned so much!

SuperSymmetricCake In reply to Szuzka [2012-09-21 18:34:50 +0000 UTC]

I really like the mixture of sharp/soft shading. I always used one or the other, but this way you get the best of both worlds!
Acrylics will work well with sharp edges for sure! I'm thinking of trying it on watercolors too, I've ruined so many paintings trying to soften the edges, surely sharp ones will be safer
Thank you for your words

Szuzka In reply to SuperSymmetricCake [2012-09-22 09:35:09 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it really works well together!
I never tried sharp edges on water colorus so I am curious to see how it looks.

SuperSymmetricCake In reply to Szuzka [2012-09-22 10:22:05 +0000 UTC]

I already have some ideas to try it out And maybe do like I did for these pictures, using sharp edges with a tiny bit of soft edges to add more interest.
