One only sees the eyes of this child when looking at this photo. They seem to draw you in, and it becomes difficult to look away. This is a beautiful portrait, albeit with a built-in sadness. I hope her expression was only temporary and that she was soon smiling again

She was sitting on the stairs leading to a temple up in the hill. Sadness is sometimes a "default" expression, which often transforms into complete joy among children.
