Description The page is from 'The Art of Comic Book Inking' by Gary Martin with pencils provided by Steve Rude; page itself is from Nexus.
Second pass at this page with a more familiar and less flexible medium of pens over brush and nib. I'm interested to see how different this page and the other are going to be.
Also making clean white borders on this page.

Pencils by Steve Rude

Inks by Surftiki

Scanned and printed on 11x17 printer paper, Inked with Sakura Micons, Faber Castell pens and a white Gellyroll.

I find brush and pens are a good combo but I concede better line quality to nibs if you know what your doing. I looked at both pages and find them roughly even. Better organic lines with the nibs as well as motion. Greater clarity with the pens.

I think works with less solid blocks of dark and light and more fine line structuring favors nibs. Both nibs and pens benefit from brush.

Sure, he more of a classic 50s-60s kind of artists.
And makes realistic people, not super body builders...like a modern day Russ Manning or Russ Heath.
