Those four always wanted Ash to grow up and more mature, right? And Misty wanted Ash to acknowledge the importance of love and romance (if I recall correctly, then she must have say that in the episode, "Where Art Thou, Pokemon"). Well, this is their chance to see it through.

I believe that Misty and others will realize that times change. Besides, I believe Serena is the right woman to Ash.

I feel that way too. Ash and Serena really have a strong bond. I can see it as Ash and Serena confess their love for each other, similar to Florinda Showers and Potter's confession scene. It came from the episode, "Make Room for Gloom". Then after that confession, most of Ash's friends including Iris pleased. Misty, May, and Dawn however, feeling rejected.
Misty, May,and Dawn: (bows in defeat)
Misty: Rejected by the guy I secretly love. Just as after Ash has finally grown up and acted more mature, another girl show up out of the blue and took all of that away.
May: Ohh... just great.
Dawn: Just as Ash has finally acted more mature, another girl pops up and took him away from me.
Sakura (Johto): There, there. It will be already, Misty.
Danny from Navel Island: Well, that's the price to pay for keeping your feelings for him a secret, Misty.
Think of Ash and Serena as Florinda and Potter confess their feelings much before this wedding. Think of Misty, Dawn, and May as Brock(s) as they each feeling rejected. Think of Sakura as Ash who trying to console Misty.

It's hard to say when Misty and the rest of us are sure that Ash got the right woman, but there is no way to be sure.

You know, Misty is right about love being the most important in the whole world. Not only does it give you strength, but love makes you feel warm and comfortable like being with someone you romantically involved. Love leads you into the road of maturity. She always wanted Ash to grow up and act more mature as well as for him to acknowledge the importance of love and romance, didn't she? If I recall correctly, she claimed that she falling in love with only the mature and intellectual type like Danny from Navel Island from the Orange Islands and you enjoy every minute of it. I don't have a problem with her relationship with him at all. Not to mention she flirted with Foster who happened to be the top student of Professor Oak. The same thing goes for Brock, Tracey,and Gary, who got quite a harem under his belt. Now how would Misty feel when Ash experience love with a nice,sweet,and gentle human girl such as Serena. Ever since then, his maturity increased thanks to her influence.
