These fellows are “cow” dragons. They’re large, herbivorous dragons that travel in massive herds across open plains and hills. They’re roughly the size of an adult elephant in mass, excluding their wings and tail.

Despite their intimidating size and numbers, cow dragons are notoriously docile— unless provoked. They are very emotional and empathetic towards members of their herd.

Cow dragons lay clutches of 1-3 eggs every decade or so. They’re very nurturing towards their young, and deeply mourn the loss of family members. They are predated by larger, carnivorous dragons, occasionally large pack mammals, and humanoid species.

Cow dragons are capable of sustained flight, but they are not strong fliers by any means. Over time, cow dragons have become much more suited to traveling on foot in their herds, though they will use their wings in times of crisis or to clear difficult terrain.Young cow dragons are particularly apt fliers for their species, and will often nestle on the backs of adult cow dragons while they are still small enough to do so.
