Is that the steins;gate Suzuha because she sure does look like her. Except she has purple hair instead of tan-ish blond like usual although it might be just the lighting.

I love what you did with the purple clouds and the whole crayon texture, more towards the horizon, it looks really fluid and neat ^_^
Love the color pallet for the sunset and how you did the buildings' skyline.
It does seem a bit, like you said, that the character is a bit 'out' of it, but it doesn't take away from the rest, so it's good.

i actually didn't like the texture i gave the sky. though it was the only 'silky' texture i could find

Really? Well, what sort of texture would you've preferred using in this, then?
I think this one works really well because, if it was something more intense, it could turn out to be sort of distracting. Conversely, if it was a dimmer, shallower texture, there would be no density or depth to the sky, a well, so I think you've got a good look and balance, even if you don't find it ideal.
Looks very clean and soothing to look at :J

kinda messed up her lighting a bit, though. originally, I was planning on adding two source lights here; one on the pole, and the sunset. She only has one light source, however, which is the light from the pole, and only ambient light from the sunset.
I also forgot to add the lighting on the ground from the pole, even though I did add two shadows of suzuha from both light sources.

I see. I actually didn't even notice the pole was a lightsource and thought that the odd way the character was drawn was just in sake of the drawing, since the lighting from the subset only would probably leave a dark figure.
It might make the character fit in less, but the character herself looks rather good this way. Of course, I can see why you don't like it as much as I do: you're the artist. In this case that's normal. I still like it, tough.

I like the background coloring. other than that, great picture overall. Can't say I like the urban theme, but it's great to mix thing up a but wouldn't ya say?

I hate urban themes, I can't connect the character with the background well.
