You did quite an excellent job on the harness and carriage. Just a couple small things to note. The tug loops go THROUGH the end loop on the marathon shafts, not behind. Your holdback strap (the one that goes from the breeching/butt strap to tie around the shafts) has double-duty in keeping the traces (buckle from the breastcollar to attach to the carriage's single/swingle tree) from drooping too much so the trace should be running through the loop of the holdback strap rather than just dangling separately. It should also be further back on the shafts. The breeching looks a bit tight, as if he's trying to back up a hill (or it's just plain too tight) as it is pressing into his thigh. The false belly band (the second "girth" that the tugs are attached to) should be fairly loose. It basically keeps the tugs from bouncing around too much and should follow the same line that the tugs show. A properly balanced cart should be light in the tugs and if there is pressure in them, it should be downward rather than upward. Carriages have their own balance independent of the horse so it isn't as imperative.
I know these are nit-picks, so feel free to take it all with a grain of salt.
He looks wonderfully handsom in his harness and I love the background/setting you put him in. Classy. Was it all done by hand or was there some painting over/filtering in the far background?
Good luck with the show!

Whichever makes it more palatable *grin.*
You did a good job of getting the colors to match and have it set-in. There's still a little that makes it stick out a little, but for the most part it is a good blend.

The far bg is a picture of a cottage and I just have that as the 2nd to last base layer, then I lowered the opacity down (you do have to have a solid colored layer under it) till I liked it. Then the parts of the bg I painted go on top of it. The fading thats to the left is just a really like eraser. So is the texture all around the pictures; it's all just lightly erased. You can get the same effect with the faded out bg too with a very light once over with an eraser. Its just more controlled when you do it with the lvls.

I did the ground, the flowers and grass and the side bushes. But the far far background I didn't do and it's a photo of a cottage. used just as a space filler.
