While in Japan we got to visit a manga school!! We got to sit in on a class where we basically got to draw/ink and tone whatever we wanted. And when I say 'tone' I mean Actual Real Tone 8D;;; Like, with the exacto knife and everything. (...last time I tried that I cut myself and stuck to digital ever since XD)I took some progress photos:
a. the paper we were given, with a blank square on it for drawing; a cute little Box With Tools; ink
b. same paper, with my rough pencil sketch
c. same paper, with my rough pencil sketch covered with some shaky ink lines and decorative ink smudges (CONFESSION TIME: I do not ink with pen nibs, so this was an interesting and very messy first time...)
d. my messy inking hastily covered up with the tones I was about to cut out in creative shapes! ...I did not cut myself this time d^.^b

OMG, I bought 2 sheets of tone in an art store a while back and tried it.
SO messy! XD
Maybe someday, if I ever layout an actual comic page, I'll have a go again (or go digital...)

Does this mean are u in a comic industry or you did all that stuff for fun?
I am trying to find some one who knows how to create a comic. do you know any one I can talk to about that subject? Maybe some one you meet in Japan, who is in that industry or something.

Well, yea, I still don't get how the japanese artists get a page done with "hand"-toning anyways. Maybe that's what assistants are for- xD

this is so awesome and verry beautiful.i wish i could go to a manga class.i desperatly need it.my manga skills relly relly are lacking.proof being every thing in my gallery with a human shape lol.any way this is awesome i love seeing works of art in there begining to end stages.this looks increadabole

Hrm, is it tricky to use the ink when doing your work? I'd be worried that I'd either spill over my work, the ink would spit up or something.

While I dearly love the digital art tools we have today, there is a certain visceral, tactile pleasure in doing things the old-fashioned hands-on way.

That looks fun! ^_^ This may be an odd question, but how thick was the paper?
I'm used to working on thicker cardstock and Bristol (particularly when working with nibs) and was curious how thick actual manga paper is.
