Description
This sign greets visitors to Skykomish, WA. For some time Skykomish was the end of the Great Northern's eletrification through Cascade Tunnel at Stevens Pass (Wenatchee anchored the east end). Although much of the yard trackage has been removed, and passenger trains no longer stop at the old Great Northern station, Skykomish remains proud of its railroad heritage. BNSF trains still roll through about 28 times a day, along with Amtrak's Empire Builder.
