King Clovis' overtaking of Mara Pride was easy, all he had to do was kill Gizem, which was nothing too nerve-wracking to him. He'd killed prey animals before, to think of the King as prey had made it easier in striking the killing blow, even more so than he anticipated. The one thing Clovis had never been prepared for was the actual duties of a King- enforcing laws, patrolling borders, keeping the herd animals in check, ensuring his subjects were fed and well; all of it was so foreign to Clovis, but luckily the Mara lionesses seemed more accustomed to the laws and what should be expected.
Melany, Gizem's ex-Queen, though certainly not fond of Clovis at first, mourned her mate while still seeking the best interest of the Pride, so she began counseling and teaching this newly appointed King. He learned everything from Melany, with her help he found his duties went smoothly, and soon enough, he was ready to begin seeking out the leaders of the species living in the Mara region, informing them of the change in Kingly leadership.
From elephants, to aardvarks, Clovis, Melany, and the spunky Carmo chipped away at the task of reinforcing the bonds between Mara Pride and its neighbors. King Clovis enjoys the company of the hyenas the best, seeing Carmo's popularity amongst them as a very good thing, so through her he began to sneakily spread his Western-tuned culture to even the prey animals.

Clovis' old Pride from the west never had issues or even been friendly with hyenas, the two groups simply avoided each other.
At the beginning of his reign, Clovis sneered at the idea of making peace with what he saw as food, deciding at first to not even bother, leaving it up to Ghufran, Melany, and Hestia. Hestia's insistence for him to try eventually pulled Clovis' rubber leg, he couldn't resist at least seeing what these weakly prey animals had to offer.

King Clovis has made plenty of friends throughout the region, particularly with the hornbills, wildeebeest, and hippos. He'd never admit it though, but he loves decorating the hippo skin with paint, weaving flowers and bone into the wildeebeest's hair. The hornbills like giving Clovis the feathers they shed or pull out, their culture is similar to his; that flock originates from the west, but a different part.
