Because they still believe what Copernicus, and Kepler, and Galileo have shown to be false for centuries. And I thought people who rejected evolution to be thick.
Disproving the geocentrist claim is easy, even the closest star system to our, Alpha centari, is four light years away, that is a huge distance from us, and even when the earth has gone through half its orbit we notice only a slight change in the stars position. So if half a year is only a slight difference then why would they expect to see great movement over the course of a single night.

I guess they also can't fathom how far away the stars actually are... if they were close, they probably WOULD move over a single night.
