I came upon this scene unfolding at Coolon Park, Lake Washington. As I ran up the beach, I could see a very large bird swooping down over the lake, when I got over the hill ....The 2 year old Bald Eagle had swooped over a gull in the water. After several passes, the gull didn't fly off. This either pissed off the eagle, or it decided the gull was of ill health enough to be lunch. On the next pass, the eagle grabbed the gull and started to fly off. I think the gull got in a bite or two before breaking free.
At that point, I got fixated on the eagle, it flew off north, up the shoreline. Every gull in it's path got up and flew off to the other side of the lake. I lost track of the gull. Last I saw of the eagle, it was flying over the hill towards Maple Valley.

amazing captures rob, it would of been amazing to see such a sight. definately in the right place at the right time. perhaps faster shutter speeds would of captured the action a bit better. but really you did a great job. Nice job Rob!

Frontline reporting at it's best. I bet the gull's wing was injured even if nothing else was wrong, but it makes you wonder why it didn't fly off. I wouldn't want to fight with those talons and beak!
