My entry for 's contest.
I've worked SO HARD on this drawing, I mean, I've done a complete background. I usually do simple backgrounds for fan art, but for this one...wow, spend a lot.
It's an illustration from my second book

I was worried about the tree...didn't want it to look so "heavy" with all those decorations
The background gave me nightmare. I had to do backgrounds like that in the future if I want beautiful illustrations in my books.

Yeah, backgrounds are super hard to draw. One thing that made it easier for me was taking classes at The Animation Academy where they showed me how to use perspective.
You can find a lot of videos on You Tube about perspective, here is one for example [link]
You can also find books at the library on perspective which could be a big help to you if you have a lot of backgrouds to create for your book and you want them to look really precise.
