Another large pen and ink form '97.Design/Illustration snobs seem to hate this shit, but I like it still ten years later. Yay me.
I seem to have been pretty busy/free that year, because a lot of my old stuff is from then.

As my pappy would say, that is quite a good example of horror vacui (seems to be something you embrace). Personally, I'd be afeard to hang it on my wall, but I like it just the same. It's fun to examine. My eyeballs want to trace all of the lines.

I love to just stare at this piece and notice all the little details within details: the flames lapping at that crazy face, the swirls of smoke wafting off...it's totally awesome! I'd sure like the patience to make something like this, myself!

Maybe it was ahead of its time? If it was sumbitted as part of a portfolio today I think it would get more positive attention. But eh, what do I know; I practically ditched my fine arts major for computer science so I could be wrong. In any case, this is a seriously awesome drawing. Almost makes me dizzy looking at, but a sacrifice well worth making to enjoy it

Thanks, I think that modern design/illustration mandates easy readability of the graphic in order to quickly/effortlessly sell the point or idea. I see why that is desired, but not in every case. Sometimes I like something that makes my eyes wander or that is not easy to drink up in a sceond.
