Description So a long time ago in the land of the 90s I played Pokemon Red, and then later Crystal. After that it was too expensive to keep up with the changing games and systems so I drifted away but I've recently gotten back into the game. I plan on playing X but until then I found some online copies of the first two gen games online. So I'm working my way through Red and Crystal again. So much seems new and I don't remember so it's not really that boring. It's actually hard (I hate gaming on a laptop, desktop keyboards are sturdier so I can get rougher but alas laptop is the only thing with internet...) (I will never nuzzlock this stuff lordy) 

Well anyway, to wrap this all into the stamp. I know you can give your number to a bunch of different NPCs in Crystal and they call you, you can get rematches and stuff. I didn't give my number to any NPC until Picnicker Liz on Route 32. 

I find her random calling rather comforting. She chats about shopping and her other friends. Usually she miss-dials me but I still like the interaction. So I guess I just accidently started to ship Kris and Liz, one is a tomboyish girl on a quest to be the very best and the other a girly-girl that stomps her feet and pouts when she loses. This has potential to be very cute! (Join me, ship it...) 

(I have so many other stamps I need to make but I tried to level up in Crystal today and I realize I never did anything for my ship so here!)

That thing about giving your number sounds like a cool little system. I only played one of the games...I can't remember which one. I think it was Diamond or something like that. So I don't know how the other games work and what's been added or changed. I quite like that phone call thing though. That would almost get me to check out the game.

I dont think it really got kept in the later generations (I know it's in the remake for that gen tho) but in X and Y you can have a really interconnected system with IRL people. It's different but it's the social aspect that was in the 2nd gen. Also missing in later gens is the acorn pokeballs. You would walk up to the trees and pick berries and what are basically acorns and take the acorns to a pokeball maker. For obvious squirrel reasons I find this humorous and hilarious. So 2nd gen tried a lot of stuff, they also had time input and day of the week (the pokemon you encountered changed depending on what time of day it was and some special people or events happened on different days of the week) it was a hoot....hoot (rofl) I guess if they change the neat extra features each generation it keeps the game new. 

Each gen since the first one has tried new things but often they don't make it into the next. The most recent thing I can think of is Pokemon Amie in X and Y and that actually is going to keep over into the remakes of Ruby and Sapphire which is great! It seems like they might keep that around, they've made it so you only get a sylveon by playing with an eevee in amie so to be fair they should keep it. 

When I first played Crystal I can't remember if I gave my number to anyone but this where the 'my rattata is in the top percental ' joke comes from knowyourmeme.com/memes/youngst… www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHlkPx… which almost seems like a staple of the pokemon fandom also functions as a word of warning, be careful who you give your number to. 

I feel like someone in the poke fandom should make a mock horror movie trailer based on Joey it would be great.

Ah yeah, I remember the time input and day of week thing. I remember the game telling me certain Pokemon would only appear at night and on certain days. I think maybe the one I played was Diamond. I'm pretty sure. But I couldn't get my DS to connect to the internet so I couldn't play any of the mulitplayer stuff. There were these buildings in all the cities and you could go and send messages and have battles and all that but yeah...couldn't do that so I never tried the online stuff.

So yeah, haven't played another game since that one. I did like the look of that 3D one. Walking around the cities in 3D looked cool but I never got around to playing it.
