Description I've always been a Pc person but it's not that Pcs are inherently better, but there almost always about half as expensive. That's why macs suck. They could be the most awesome computers ever. A thousand bucks for a laptop? No thanks.
Hope you enjoy and please comment.
The apple logo and the term "Mac" are trademarks of Apple. I do not claim them as my own at all.

to me what I would be paying most of that money is for the half bitten apple that sits on the sides or on the top or front of the apple computer/pc.

IN my opinion for the same price of either a I Mac or Mac Pro I could have a rig set up that would be ten times better in performance than it.

I do like the eye candy look of Apple's GUI but I can only do so much on a Mac OS while Apple holds my hand and tells me on what I cant and can install on their computer.

I like having freedom in putting different programs and freeware on a pc and not having a locked down OS like Apple does.

I also like customization and with a Mac product I cant even do so in terms of rig, unless I pay a criminal amount for the Mac Pro and dismantle that to take its parts out and so forth.

I just hope Apple just lowers its prices on its computers as they seem to overprice even their RAM and graphics cards which you can find for much cheaper on NewEgg.com

i love dem macs!

i'm getting a new one for my birthday, (my old one broke) except it's the laptop kind. and yeah, they are expensive, but all you have to do is save up. set aside $50 a week and in 20 weeks you'll have that $1,000 computer.

OR, if your a blessed, only child like myself, ask your parents/aunt(s)/uncle(s) for one. i reccomend uncle, thats where i'm getting mine from. xD

And thats the only reason I accept for people to not like Macs. I hate it when people try to rip on them for any other reason. They're great computers, simple to use, attractive in and out, loaded with tons of great programs, powerful enough for most games. Honestly, I think they have the potential to be the causal user's go-to computer.... that is, if they weren't so damn expensive.

Eh, but I'm already a devoted Mac fan. Its too late for me, I'll always own one, haha.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

BloodRedFullMoon In reply to mixtapebangstamps [2011-05-18 08:32:36 +0000 UTC]

That's by far not the only reason for it. You can't customize a Mac PC nearly as much as a Windows PC (since Apple seems pretty paranoid about letting their slaves- um, I mean users change anything in their OS). I like having full control over my OS and my computer, I like being able to upgrade it whenever I deem it necessary, and I like being able to use whatever programs I want, not what Apple throws on the ground in front of me to use.

Powerful enough for most games ... also depends. Specs-wise, yes, the really expensive ones might be able to handle today's games, but without DirectX that point is obsolete. And don't give me the bootcamp argument. Why should I buy a Mac PC that's 2-3 times as expensive as a normal PC and THEN buy Windows separately only to play games???
And without that option ... show me a Mac PC that can run Crysis 2 on max details fluidly. My self-built PC can, and it cost me about 1000$.

Attractive also depends. Personally, I think Mac PCs are fugly as hell. On normal PCs, however, there is that customizing option again. I can decide what OS to run on it, I can decide which components are built in it, I can decide how it looks ... I can decide EVERYTHING, and for a fraction of the price of a Mac PC.

And Mac PCs aren't nearly as stable as Apple always advertizes. They crash, too, and when they do they're usually FUBAR. Only option is buying a new one. On a Windows PC I at least have a clue why it crashes most of the time, and usually it is quite fixable (And on a side note ... I've owned 2 laptops and my self-built high-end gaming machine over the past 6 years. And since I use Windows 7 I have not experienced a single crash, although I do some sick shit with my PC sometimes. Back on Vista there were some crahes, although infrequent, but Vista did suck balls ... ^^).

Nah, Macs are overrated. Way overrated.

Can I quote myself? Aw, I just will, "Honestly, I think they have the potential to be the causal user's go-to computer..". I really feel no need to directly respond to any of what you said because it was either A) untrue or B) does not matter, because I specifically said "casual users". No, a Mac is not a good computer for your average techie who likes to tinker and toy with their machine- but for someone who would rather have a long-funtioning, straight-forward, easy-to-use computer, Macs are very ideal.

Seriously, why in the hell did you feel the need to respond to my comment? God forbid someone has another (much more enlightened, you know, being a seasoned computer user who owns several different types) opinion than yours.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BloodRedFullMoon In reply to mixtapebangstamps [2011-05-19 17:56:11 +0000 UTC]

Why? Meh, because I felt like it.
Call it boredom. Also, because I don't like Macs.
Seriously, why do people answer to other people's comments?

You're absolutely entitled to your opinion, I never said anything to the contrary (although 'much more enlightened' sounds a tad arrogant, you know ... because honestly, I've been a computer user for quite a few years meself and I do consider myself somewhat more 'enlightened' than the average user).

Concerning Macs ... see, what I wanted to say there was that the price/performance-ratio of a Mac is beyond good and evil. Yes, for casual users they might be a good idea in theory, but in all honesty ... thinking of what you actually get compared to what you pay for it ... I don't think I would recommend a mac even to casual users. Not even if they'd cost half as much. Not with Apple's software policies and them deciding what you can and can't do with it.

See, in the end, I can't change your opinion, you can't change mine.
That doesn't keep me from trolling once in a while

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mixtapebangstamps In reply to BloodRedFullMoon [2011-05-19 19:08:27 +0000 UTC]

And I agree with that. Maybe I should have used the full quote, "Honestly, I think they have the potential to be the causal user's go-to computer.... that is, if they weren't so damn expensive. "

Eh, I know it sounded arrogant. I feel like I can afford to be, though because even if you're a long-time computer user, based on all the things you said, I can pretty much guarantee you've never owned a Mac. And, honestly, I was pretty damn annoyed for someone to reply to my harmless, not-trying-to-start-anything comment with a very long, very misinformed sounding one.

But, you know, the difference here is that you can't change my opinion because I have real, solid, long-time experience with most big-name computers and you.... are another person who wants to tell me I'm wrong for liking Macs without really having experienced using them.

That wasn't exactly trolling. It was really just arguing with a stranger on the internet without any real reason and fucking up their day.

BloodRedFullMoon In reply to mixtapebangstamps [2011-05-19 20:18:24 +0000 UTC]

Well. If you took it like that, I apologize, because it wasn't my intention.
See, that 'reply'-button basically means that if someone thinks they have anything to say to something, they can do so. Since when do people need a reason for it?

You're right, I haven't owned a Mac. I've owned various Linux and Windows machines. But that doesn't mean I've never used a Mac. I have, and I didn't like it. They're not my thing. The interface feels clunky, and there is - to me - nothing natural or intuitive about using OS X.
The reason why I don't like Macs is based on that and because I despise Apple as a company (I know, Microsoft isn't that much better, actually ... xD) because they basically all but lie to their customers (excluding a certain common feature on the initial release of a product, getting criticized for it, then adding it later and calling it 'revolutionary' and taking a bunch of money for it, for example. Yes, I'm talking about the first iPhone and things like a built-in camera.)

Bah, in the end ... just don't mind me if you don't want to. As I said, it wasn't my intention to fuck up your day. Where I come from, we don't ask before discussing stuff on the internet, we just do.

I have to disagree with you on that they have no faults. For one they're kind of clunky to use. I have yet to find one with a mouse with 2 buttons. And i never liked the programs on a Mac when i compared them to a PC's. But to each his own i guess.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mixtapebangstamps In reply to SweetToother [2011-04-24 05:43:30 +0000 UTC]

You've yet to find one with two buttons? Um, dear, have you used a Mac in the past 10 years? They've had two buttons for quite some time now. Their design doesn't show it (it looks like one flat one-buttoned mouse), but I assure you that you'll have a harder time finding a one-buttoned one.

I'd comment on the program part (which is valid- to each his own, as you said), but I'm wondering if you've actually had the chance to use a current Mac program based on the mouse comment.

SweetToother In reply to mixtapebangstamps [2011-04-24 06:12:55 +0000 UTC]

I use Macs quite often. My school has an agreement with apple to gather student data, so all the computers are Macs. They got 20 brand new mac desktops and everyone of them has a mouse with a single stupid button. And I have used the programs on these ( mostly digital stuff and writing programs)and i've found that i prefer the ones on my Pc. The mice might be a mistake, but my preference for Pc programs is true.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mixtapebangstamps In reply to SweetToother [2011-04-24 17:03:28 +0000 UTC]

Are you sure its a single button? Like I said, the Mac's mouse looks like one big button, but in reality its two if you click each side. If it is, in fact, one button, than, yes, its some sort of mistake because the modern Mac has two buttons, guaranteed.

The writing programs part I believe; my boyfriend (a big PC lover) prefers PC Word over Mac Word and I actually understand that one. They really simplified the Mac Word, its pretty annoying. Other than that, I prefer most of the Mac version of programs.

But, my point wasn't really that the Mac versions were better (thats up to opinion), but that they are far more simple to use and if the computer wasn't so pricey, I can see it making a causal computer user's time much easier.

SweetToother In reply to mixtapebangstamps [2011-04-24 20:24:42 +0000 UTC]

I see your point and i can see where your coming from too. And yes the mice have a single button. To right click you have to hold ctrl and i find that very annoying.

I agree that Macs are expensive, but to me the stationary monitors are worth it. I've only had two, and the first one my family'd had for over ten years. It still ran fine, but it was well outdated. And I haven't had any problems with my current Mac (that weren't my fault, anyways.)

But never would I get a $1000 laptop, because, with my luck, I'd end up breaking it.
