I've been stressed out about a lot of stupid things lately and some art therapy was in order. I felt much better after drawing this. Dogs shake themselves to dissipate tension as well as to dry themselves off, so it seemed cute and appropriate. It's now pasted above my desk as a reminder not to sweat the small stuff.
I made one for *StormyHotWolf88 too.photos are kind of blurry because my shaky hands and I fail at taking them.

sdfds I LOVE the motion in this, god, it's so hard to get a real feeling of motion in still pictures but you do it so WELL. And with a short-haired dog! It still looks like she shaking off water... so perfect. x_x IAMJEALOUSSSS.

A perfectly captured moment in art! I must say that the shaky camera hand simply adds to the effect/action! Oh, and how I wish it was that easy to 'get the stress off.'

This is really nice! Art therapy would be more effective with me if I wasn't always so concerned about my art looking good. XD I guess it's probably because I'm in Art in school, and in a sense there's pressure on me to draw well, and the other girls are very very good artists- waaaay better than me, and I sit next to to the best one in the class (Who's a lovely friend though). Put that all together and yeah. XD

I love how you drew the water drops, and the movement in both pictures are really neat. I like how you made Swift's movement lines orange, that's neat.
You don't really draw many wolves- or at least, don't submit them, so it's interesting to see your take on my favourite animal. <3 (Damn you, deviantART XD It's like if you were a hardcore vampire fan and then twilight comes out.) I really like how you did the fur on Stormy, and the anatomy looks really neat. It's funny to see the contrast between the slender whippet and the wolf, especially on the legs. XD

Yeah, the thing about art therapy is you can't be too concerned about quality (though when it DOES come out well, it's like a bonus xDD). Take your time with getting better, don't feel too pressured, and just try to enjoy it more than stressing out over it. I know it's difficult when it's something you're studying, but it's just a matter of finding the right balance.
It's true, I don't draw or post wolves all that much. I don't know if I've told you but I just got sick of people being OMGAWULF!!!11! all over these generic tradepictures I did of people's wolf characters and basically ignoring my personal art. That and I was actually having trouble making the tradepictures not look boring. They're not my favourite animal anyway (even though I do think they're beautiful and have great respect for them), so it wasn't a big deal to me to stop posting them. I do like certain wolf characters, though, like Stormy here (both her nice markings/design and the fact that I am close friends irl with her creator so I can incorporate her personality to the mix), so I do enjoy drawing her and do so fairly often actually.
If you like what I did with this then maybe I should try drawing more wolves again! I don't have any characters of them but a lot of my good friends do, and ones that I like.

I think you might have mentioned it loosely before. It's really annoying... it makes the animals look cheap, not to mention the sparkledogs... I'm not agaisnt their creators, or people drawing them, if someone enjoys drawing them, then they should! But personally, I don't like them.

I don't much like them either, although there are some artists that can pull off a design that in lesser hands would be 'sparkledog' and make me think it beautiful and well done. I also find a lot of the wolf characters I see randomly around to be pretty generic and not very interesting to me personally. It seems to be a bandwagon of sorts and it makes me feel for the people that actually do draw a lot of their inspiration from wolves. I know it annoys me to no end when I happen to come across a sighthound character (they seem to be catching on a bit more now) where the person clearly knows nothing about the dog breed in question and just chose it because it was 'omgpretty' or whatever. >:C
I should, just to show people I don't have anything against them. I posted a big journal rant about it once upon a time but I deleted it because people kept missing my point and showing me as much in their comments -- pretty much the reason I don't rant publicly anymore, at least on devART. I think people might have got the idea that I hate them or something when I don't, I just have other things I prefer drawing and it annoyed me that people would drool all over some stupid picture I did just because it was a flipping wolf. Nothing against wolves themselves, but the 'omgawolf' fandom at large annoys the flip out of me.

Just another little fact: Dogs will also shake to show joy or happiness. Such as Dawn and Eclipse shaking like mad when it's time to go outside.

Bella never shakes when she's excited. She does tremble and look intent though. Again, I think it's a way of dissipating tension since you can get tense when you're excited too and it's something to do with all the excess energy. ;D

I'm not taking commissions at present because legally I cannot work (including freelance work) while I am in the States on a student visa. However once I graduate I'll hopefully have my permit that will allow me to stay here for a year and then I will be able to work and then I will open commissions!! I'm very excited.

I don't think of 'canine art' or 'feline art' or whatever as separate categories. To me it's all art.
Drawing always makes me feel better when I'm stressed though. You don't have to worry about making it look good, it's about getting your feelings out. Art therapy.
