i finished Iron Angel last night! @.@ i want the next book now. even if it's nowhere near being released yet...that book was EPIC.
but yeah. near the beginning there's this scene with some of the "Spine" as they're called (emotionless church assassins) wearing these masks and stuff. and the imagery was just so incredibly vivid, i just had to draw it.
i shaded this in greyscale with HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B lead pencils, then added some red and orange highlights.

... okay, fangasm over I really like this pic. Not how I imagine the Spine but, fuck, it's a book so everyone has their own ideas. Still, the chains are an epic touch... I can't wait to read the third book :3

I'm hoping the third book explains some things because I would love to write a fanfic for it but I just don't know enough about the world yet....

Yes, I hope it has a lot more of the world in the next one, as well as a follow-up with some of the neglected characters from the first. I mean, what happened Devon? He was my favorite and wasn't even mentioned in the second book.

Yus! He needs to answer some much needed questions. Although, making the first book take place entirely in a city was brilliant as it introduced things and left a lot hanging. Then the second book was even bettur but still did the same thing... I'm not sure how many books he plans to write but hopefully the last one will explain everything :3

Yeah, the second book was like the first book on a grander scale.
I think he intends to make three books of this series, but I'm not sure exactly. It would take a pretty long book to have not only it's own plot but also to wrap up the loose ends of the previous two. Which would be a considerable task...

Maybe his third book will be really long? I know J.K Rowling exploded the fourth book... then again it didn't need to be so large in the first place so maybe that's not the same thing. I really really really hope the third one wraps up loose ends because too many books I've read lately have done no such thing and it's quite irritating...

As long as the ending is sufficient and/or brilliant I couldn't really care less. I mean, it's hard enough doing ending's in the first place but a good one? I just hope he can write it well... or else we'll have to storm his castle of doom with pitchforks and flaming rabbits! Who's WITH ME?!

This is really similar to how I've imagined the spine assassins as well. Sort of like the FBI, clad in sunglasses (or goggles and sand masks in this case), but with an air of creepiness. Everything about it says "tempered robot". The mask especially catches the eye because of its insect-kie appearance.

yeah, they are very creepy o.o i always sort of saw them as steampunk ninjas, with all their emotionless skill.
