The heroes succeed in resurrecting the Tree of Harmony, along with the Elements. The heroes take a moment to admire the tree, ecstatic to have it and the Elements back, remembering all the good times they had when using the Elements of Harmony.

Luna: Don't get too attached to it again. After the threat has been dealt with, we'll have to take our magic back.

Twilight agrees and uses her magic to put on her Element of Magic, and levitates the other elements to their respective old wielders.

Rainbow Dash: It's time to do what we do best, save Equestria and kick some plot!

Just when they're about to leave, Starlight senses that her old village is in danger. The heroes don't have time to think about there being another threat or how to deal with it as they're already facing a big enough threat as it is.

Twilight: Your village needs you Starlight. Go to it while we aid the Pillars.

Starlight obliges and teleports away, the Mane 6 leave, and so do the magicless Princesses, on foot. A few minutes later, Starlight is close to her village that she runs too.

Starlight: Please don't be too late… don't be too late…

She stops running when she enters the village and gasps in horror when she sees what has become of her old home town.

Starlight: I’m too late.

Most of the village is in ruins, with all of the houses greatly devastated, as if a twister had hit this place or construction workers came and tore it down with bulldozers. As for the ponies, they are all laying down on the ground either unconscious or groaning in pain while struggling to get up. Thankfully to Faust, they are all still live, but hurt bad.

Starlight with a face of despair tears up seeing what has happened to the village she once called her home and the ponies who welcomed her back with open arms and accepted her even after she enslaved them. She could not help but feel responsible; this was her village, her ponies, and her responsibility.

Starlight: I should have been here to protect them! Why Celestia!? Why!?

She closes her eyes and sheds a tear, then she opens them back up when she here’s footsteps and somepony approaching her. She turns around and sees the one who is responsible for this disaster.

Shadow Spectre: Do you like your welcome home surprise, Princess Starlight?

Starlight: You monster!

Shadow Spectre: Oh, I’m the monster here? Was I the communist cultist who enslaved this village and brainwashed it’s ponies into getting rid of what made them special?

Starlight ignores her and holds in her anger.

Shadow Spectre: And who almost destroyed Equestria for the sake of just one friend?

In anger and rage, she fires a powerful magic blast at her, which she avoids by teleporting herself out of the way. After successfully dodging the attack she speaks again to Starlight.

Shadow Spectre: But don't misunderstand. I'm not criticizing. Me and my sister's admired what you did which is why we like for you to join our cult of darkness.

Starlight: You can take your offer and blow it out of your plot! Mark my words witch, I'm gonna make you pay for what you did.

Shadow Spectre: I'm waiting...

She fires another magic blast from her horn at Shadow, who does the same and lights up her horn with a reddish purple aura and fires a reddish purple blast, that counters with her opponent's blast, getting them into a beam struggle. Shadow's wins the struggle, and Starlight gets blasted down, briefly sliding across the ground, with her back smoking. Shadow teleports in front of her and casts a spell that forces her to relieve her worst memories. This includes her lonely childhood and all the evil deeds she's done, the ponies who continued to judge and mistreat her for her past, and all the mistakes she's made while being Twilight's student.

The painful memories continue for about 3 minutes and brings her to tears. Starlight begs for it to stop.

Shadow Spectre: Are you ready to submit and accept your new fate?

Starlight: Never!

Starlight gets up and before she can engage in battle with Spectre, she gets blasted in the back by another Cult Sister who helped terrorize the village, the same one who had Cozy Glow become the Pony of Shadows' new host and helped create the Pony of Shadows and Flames.

Cult sister #1: Time for your "initiation".

They teleport away with Starlight, but not before casting a paralyzing spell on her to prevent her from moving or escaping. Back at their secret lair, which we see to be a witch's castle floating in the sky, her and her sisters start setting up the ritual. They place 4 unknown creature skulls (that may or may not be real) with candles in a circle around Starlight, who is laying down on her back, on an unknown magic symbol. After setting up the ritual, Shadow turns to face her sisters.

Shadow Spectre: Now, we'll need to extract the darkness from one of you to transfer into her...

She levitates the cult sister who made Cozy the Pony of Shadows' new host up, holding her with her magic. She then starts removing her magic and life force similar to Tirek absorbing a pony. She groans in pain as she is painfully absorbed.

Cult sister #1: *Weakly* But...why...?

Shadow Spectre: Out of all of us, you have contributed the least over the years. I gave you a chance to redeem yourself today, but you've picked the wrong host for the Pony of Shadows, and your Pony of Shadows and Flames has failed. We also have to "make room" for our newest sister.

As she explained this, she continued to slowly absorb her magic and life force, until she was completely drained. She drops her lifeless corpse before transferring the ball of black magic to Starlight, which absorbs itself into her through her horn. She then starts reading a spell from her spell book. As she reads and performs the spell, we see the outside of the castle and see more and more dark clouds gathering around it, with some lightning strikes.

Meanwhile, the heroes have successfully banished the Pony of Shadows to Limbo again. Luckily for Cozy Glow, who nearly got banished to Limbo with it, one of the Mane 6 noticed her and got her out of it in time. The scared filly hugs Twilight's front legs, tearfully thanking her.

Cozy Glow: Thank you...thank you! I would've been trapped in Limbo with the Pony of Shadows forever!

Twilight: I should've known you were behind this. Seems you didn't learn anything during your time in Tartarus, and tried to take revenge on us again.

Cozy Glow: *Lets go of her* No...you don't understand...

Cozy Glow is sent back to Tartarus while the others go back home. Twilight orders the School of Friendship and Starlight's village to be repaired as quickly as possible. Speaking of Starlight, Twilight wonders where she is.

We go back to the cult's castle, and there we see Starlight Glimmer in a new form, very similar to that of Midnight Sparkle, with her mind having been altered by the ritual.

Shadow Spectre: Welcome to the cult... Darknight Glimmer.
