19, County, moving on a speeder that just blew by me! Suspect vehicle is a silver Jaguar XKR.

not my favorite design, but live on the street they look imposing.
Saw a blue convertible one at the junk yard, so depressing. It looked mint except for the paint which was starting to peel due to the sun.

People are idiots.Ā  I can't imagine junking a car like this unless it was a complete wreck.Ā  Even if the motor's blown, they can be swapped out.

I just checked it on KBB - a 2000 XKR in 'fair' condition is $7,500 and in 'good' shape it's about $8,500.Ā  Assuming an engine can be acquired for less than that, there's really no good reason that car should be scrap iron. Ā  So it goes back to... people are idiots.

Agreed.
They're pretty high-end cars. I doubt there's many XK owners out there looking for spare part for their cars in a junkyard.
For a second there, we entertained the idea of buying it and doing the popular LS swap, but we have no idea if it's even possible to register a car from a junkyard. In any case, I took some snaps of the poor thing. Warning, this may ruin your day.

I forgot to take a pic of the interior but it was complete and in perfect shape.

You'd be surprised.Ā  There was a British tv show where they bought a problem Jag, fixed it up, and gave it to a viewer.Ā  There was an engine management module that was causing it to go into limp home mode after running for 20 mins.Ā  The module was ridiculously expensive to buy new, so they found a used one and put that on.Ā

That poor Jag.

That interior won't be flawless for long since I see the windows are slightly open.

If it can't be registered for road use, it would still make an awesome 24 Hours of LeMons car.Ā  Hopefully someone snaps it up before the crusher does.

12 cylinder?

Q: What's the difference between above and XKE?

The XKE was a model sold in the '60s and early '70s (also known as the E-Type).
