Description 1902 Pennsylvania Railroad

The original #7002 set a world record speed of 127.1 MPH in 1905, but was unceremoniously scrapped in 1934.  The similar #8063 was turned into a recreation of #7002 in 1939.

Yup!  I take it you've stopped here also?

We stopped there some time ago and took a train ride, but the museum wasn't open.  I paid extra to take two of the older kids for a ride on a 4-wheel hand car (pump trolley, pump car, or draisine, depending on your terminology preference) as well, and "Thomas the Tank Engine" arrived as we were getting ready to leave, so we saw that as well. We've been to a few rail museums, including a tour of the Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine & Steam Train. At this stage of the game, the kids basically just put up with the old man for stopping at those kinds of places.  (Although I can't say they complain too much when it comes to RR side trips.)  Have to go back to this one sometime, though, when it's open.

SWIFTY: HELLO! .... GREAT photo! .....

This PENNSYLVANIA 'born' human ENJOYS it MUCH!!

When I was a 'kid' (back when FIRE and THE WHEEL were STARTING out),
I had a LIONEL 'train' and 'track' set! ....

It had an 'electric' TRANSFORMER that plugged into a 110 volt house socket outlet
that ran the train around and around ....

The ENGINE also had a 'stack' that was 'hollow' inside and there was a small,
CAPSULE with LIQUID encased that you STUCK INTO the TUBE stack
and after a few minutes or so, it emitted SMOKE! .... NEAT stuff! .... b

To be fair I figured you might appreciate this one.   I have a few train shots, but I've posted most of the good ones already.  Sadly, a lot of the trains in the museum are either 1. hard to shoot or 2. recreations as opposed to the real thing (because no one thought to save the originals - like this one ).
