I've been trying out Chaotica, the flame fractal renderer. It's pretty good, in many ways. It's very fast, and gives a lot of control over the output that would normally involve waiting for photoshop to boot up (which takes a long time on this computer!)
However, the free version has some restrictions (size being the big one, for me), and I don't think it can do 3d stuff or custom plug-ins. I'll have to investigate the plug-ins

But anyway, this means that I've been firing up some of the old parameters I've had, that were never quite brought to the point of posting on here. This is one of the (many) fractals I came up with while trying to figure out, emulate, or approach the famous Splits/Eliptic combo. I still cant' get that lovely braid-like pattern without starting with pre-made params, and I'm sure I'm missing something really simple. But I'm finding cool stuff along the way, and I guess that's good enough for now.
