Description So blah...I've been having a brainfart with Mandelbulb this past week, and I haven't been able to come up with anything good. I posted a version of this yesterday, and I immediately removed it. I'm A LOT happier with this one. I think it's my best A'Surf effort yet anyway.

Amazing Surf only and some very minor post work with curves. Thanks for looking!

Excellent! I'm really struggling with creating depth and focus in post process, and works nicely here

Thanks, Martina! A lot of fractals will look better with it turned on; Definitely more photo realistic. The tricky part is getting the right strength and focus points. I can spend a good half an hour sometimes just setting up the DoF!

As you notice, most of my works have a blurred background and in focus foreground. Blurred foregrounds can be really tricky, and the DoF often has a strange edginess to it that I don't find appealing. It looks fake. Anywho, that's about all the pointers I can give.

Thanks, I certainly haven't got the hang of it. I try selecting area myself but that seems haphazard and if I set it to auto the whole image is too blurred.

Ohhhhh An easy trick for background blurring only: Set first focus to zero, and for the second focus point click the part of the image where you want the focus to end and the blurring to begin. The z-sharp points are just that, the area where the focus of the image will be. The rest if the image will be blurred. There is a reset button, so just practicing!
