This might sound weird but I don't have any kinda tablet so I did this painting in photoshop CS5 using my mouse hahahaha. Hence the not so smooth effect.
Brushes, wow I used a lot. I used a lot of Soft/Hard round (a lot of soft to blend the skin), flat brushes, spatter brushes and sometimes the chalk brush. It's all about the opacity to get the blend/tone.

Beautiful. Β I love the background. It makes the whole thing interesting and that shade of purple is gorgeous, but of course - Sherlock looks very impressive. The realism is brilliant-. Love the flowers. I'm not sure what's my favorite episode. Quite possibly The Hound of Baskervilles, but I like The Sign of Three too.Β

I really had a hard time deciding the background. I played mostly with dark colors to make Sherlock more in focus. I ended up with purple.
Lol the flowers are just a crazy mess. Glad you liked them.
