I've always wondered how the prince reacts when he realizes she's gone, and what happens with him afterward.

This part is sad because The Little Mermaid threw herself into the sea and she could not kill her Prince

The original story made me cry since I'm so used to Disney's happy endings.

As she walks, she feels the pain through her feet and legs for the entire time she is a human, but she had to kill him because she loves him, but she dies herself

Thanks Helca. I agree with you. Self sacrifice for real love is the noblest of causes, and that makes the Little Mermaid one of my favourite tale heroine. She's adventurous, passionate and true to her heart. No wonder Disney got inspired by her personnality.

Frist thing I love how she looks like a mermaid, a fish woman. Second the pain look and the screen that blocks the view for just the princes face. The cast of the shadow which holds her dagger. Mmm my favorite never did care for a happy ending rather have a noble one instead.

I personally like both versions. The Disney one because it was part of my childhood and frankly, I like a happy ending. H. C. Anderson's version tugs more at my heartstrings as an adult. I love tragedies. I particularly love that there's a silver lining for the Little Mermaid.
Opinions on the Verse aside, I love this. You've captured the emotion quite well. My heart breaks for her.
